Great Effects

“Must every great idea have a ‘wow’ effect?”

…I was once asked. Although I chose to ignore the question at the moment, it just kept ringing in my ears like the hourly chime of bells from my grandmother’s village steeple. It gnawed at me like a mother hen trying to rescue her chicks! I realised that it wasn’t just another question to be answered to quench the appaling thirst of my inquisitive friend, neither does it require a retort nor the silence that I gave it. I realised it was far more than something muse about and then, discard. It was a code that needed to be deciphered and implanted in our very eyes so we can see through it.

The question is a kind I’d refer to as my friend, Sandra’s Lapalapa seeds that after breaking the pods, you’d still have to get the ‘seeds inside the seeds’ for manure. It sounds very simple and anyone would have just answered it without baiting an eyelid, but then, I noticed that most people can’t give correct answers because they really don’t know what it means to have great ideas! Most people have problems that they know they could have done without because there is something with their perception. Most problems surface because people don’t know or understand certain basic things. I realised many people don’t understand what it means to have a great idea, not to mention the effect it has.

What ideas are great? Or what ideas are excellent? What ideas should be considered deserving a specified description? Greatness is a seed that when nourished, grows in people, and then, make them invincible, imprinting their names on the stones of time. A great idea is not one that is most likely capable of making you rich, it is not one that sounds ‘magnificent’ in it’s own sense. In fact, the greatest of ideas usually doesn’t make sense. Most great ideas are usually shunned and laughed at – not ‘wowed’. It takes the deep to call on the deep, it takes a great personality to breed great ideas. Greatness is an institution that is affiliated to – simple! – an incomparable God.

The actualisation of every great idea is always wooooowww, but the idea on it’s own – wheeeeeewww. Greatness comes from within, what more can you ask for when you have Great on your inside? Want to be great or breed greatness?…can’t do it without Great – can’t.

Mera love…gracias!

Permit me, o my fairy one. Many languages wouldst i write, for one wouldst not. Why saith thou me, o ye people, ”thine love thou seeth not.” Dwelleth my love inside me, inside my very eye abideth my pyar; remove thou him canst thou not.

Mera pyar! Mera dil…sapna eh, yet, bilkul sehi. Shineth thou my love like the sea of glass. Aponbepore, full of brightness. Thy scent, o smelleth thou like a bunch of loveliest flowers. Tu es tres belle, mera zindigi. Eni okan mi fe.
Listen, o ye people de la musique of mera dil.

Thou saith,’thine love is far from thee.’ Woe, seeth thou not – mba, not at all. Gracias, o sukriya mera pyar for tere naam. Dil ne jise apna kaha? wouldst i forever ask.

Vision in Action

Oh for crying out loud…. Myopia isn’t just a physical impediment. It is spiritual as well as psychological – gosh – I don’t think I can ever cease from wondering why anyone would enjoy being myopic. Just like most of the beggers in our vicinity, they go about emoting some unfortunate circumstance(s), most of which they could deal with, in order to gain the world’s pity and I just keep wondering if they were actually happy for their misfortune.

It is so unfortunate that most people seem to be looking, and yet, they aren’t seeing far enough. Some of course, know the importance of looking deep enough, still, they wouldn’t dare. Perhaps they do but they aren’t dwelling on the appropriate things. Vision and actions go hand-in-hand, what you are today is as a result of what your eyes can picture. You might think – ‘hey…I didn’t picture I wasn’t going to graduate this year or I was going to lose that precious thing I sooo much cherished’ – shit happen all the time to make us stronger and to widen our scope, it is what we see that will determines what we become.

Who said dreaming isn’t good? Who said planning is a waste of time? Who said looking deep enough could make the eyes go blind? I have come to understand that the eye is the light of our lives. Being parochial is as bad as being blind! Understanding is a wellspring of life to those who have it.

Dream the incredible, see the unrealistic, think the unthinkable, and it won’t take time for you to realise you can actually do. You’d find limitations and restraints gradually deteriorating and impossibility would cease to exist in your vocabulary.

Just wondering….

Usually, i am a natural ‘wonderer’ but recently, i realized that my wondering has become quite exceptional. Don’t ask me what i muse about; honestly, you don’t want to hear it. I don’t think there’s a subject i haven’t bothered my wacky little head with. I’d deviate from being silly to being really obnoxious sometimes while at other times i am just as sweet as honey. Whatever conclusion you make about my musing around, i believe I’m just…curious – yes, that’s the word! Curiousity they say, kills the cat; true, at least i am human, it is completely harmless to me (that was what i thought).
Don’t let me drift your attention away – that is how the mind of a ‘wonderer’ is. It goes ‘zzzzzzz’ like the Spirit of God that was hovering over the surface of the dark, empty earth. Recently, i have been thinking about how inevitable love is. From my own analysis on ‘love’, i can define it as the pain or burden or probably the sense of responsibility one has for others. Although love has it’s advantages, the other side of it is so very devastating. It ruins, tears apart and completely shatters. Don’t even try telling me not to concentrate on the bad side because this world is a wicked one. It only celebrates the high and mighty who probably got promoted through dubious means.
As inevitable as love is, only few choose to have it. The so called politicians, leaders, exploiting business gurus… even paupers, in short, everyone feign it so well they’d qualify for a PhD in acting.  So many people have been disappointed and traumatized (myself included), many are, and much more will….What i am saying is, as painful as love is, why should it be so inevitable?

How Much Do You Know You?

One of my favourite Hindi songs says that the little things you do make up who you are. At first, i disagreed but then, as i grew older i came to understand that you are actually what you do, what you see, what you think, and even what you eat. I also noticed that people mostly paint picture(s) for others to see which usually is not theirs; ”it’s called personality,” they usually say. Don’t get me wrong, i am not against building up personalities, i am concerned that so many people, in an attempt to build their so called personality they lost the sense of who they really are. Some people don’t even have a clue on who they are, yet they make a fuse about creating personalities.
Personality, in my own words, can be defined as the picture of yourself that you decide to show the world. Everyone needs a personality boost – no doubt – since the world is a global village, and inter-personal relations are expected. Talking about relationships, it is important that i say this, as much as inter-personal relationship is vital, the need for intra-personal relationship can never be over-emphasized. The former is concerned with the relationship without; i.e., between other people while the latter is concerned with the relationship within you! It sounds funny but it is the truth, you can never have a better relationship with people than the relationship you have with yourself. The problem with many marriages and courtship is not usually lack of the understanding of their spouse but lack of knowledge of who they are as indivduals which leads to trying to find someone who can fill the void inside them.
In every personality, there is a place of temperaments and character, it is an attrocity to try to push one of them aside. In order to ensure a good relationship with you, it is essential to relate with the three. Temperaments are in-born traits; there is little you can do about it, you were born with it. They can only be modified because there is no temperament without faults. Characters are in-built traits, your character is built in you probably by your upbring, environment, hobbies or what have you. Personalities are made-up traits, it is good to polish our personality but not at the expense of our temperaments and characters. Good intra-personal relationships give us stable identities. Polishing our personalities alone will bring us more harm than good.

Ultimate Search

There she was in those days. In the time when days were young and hearts were merry, when the eye still laid it’s head on the knee. The time when she lived in the greatest island on earth. She was the wealthiest merchant on earth, and she traded with men and gods alike. Her abode was filled with such great treasures that their kinds never existed.
Those who patronized her knew that dealing with her was a symbol of greatness; Zeus, the sun god and his wife, Radha and Krishna, Mandella of South Africa, Odysseus of Ithaca and his dear wife – Penelope – amongst others were priviledged to meet her; she was such a wonder to many. Cameroon, the movie maker revealed her identity in his massive titanic ship, Shakespare exposed her like the sweet aroma of burning fats in the lives of Romeo and Julliet – the era of love – when she dwelt in the greatest island on earth!
Now, fresh waters have surfaced, and new fishes have entered into them. Days are now old and haggered, with teeth sharp like razor in their chests. All there seem to be now, is some Ro and Jul, and Meo and Liet trying to psyche each other up! Of course, there are still a few Romeos’ and Julliets’ but they are now one in a million. It is quite unfortunate that a Romeo now ends up with a Jul, and a Julliet with a Meo.
In this era of Facebook it looks like she is lost – forever – burried deep beneath the earth, her treasures all over earth, scattered like sheep without a shephard – wandering…searching…for great minds to deal. Thank God all hope is not lost! She is still very much around, with a trail behind her. Find her and you will live forever! This is a quest in which only great minds can embark on. It is indeed the glory of God to conceal a thing, but the honour of kings to search out a matter.

Dare 1

Just as creativity is borne by originality, negativity also breeds impossibility. A lot of people agree to the fact that they are the lights of the world and they have on the inside of them what it takes to move mountains but when they stand before the mountain the recoil, and then they make statements like ‘I can’t. I’m just an ordinary person’, ‘Me, of all people’, ‘Who am I to…’ ‘I’m the smallest in my family’; ‘I don’t have what it takes’ and so on. Of what use is a light that is not switched on.
My favourite comedian, Bill Cosby, once said, ‘people fail in direct proportion to their willingness to accept socially acceptable excuses of failure’. Excuses are only meant to limit your potentials and when you rely on them more often, they will not only incapacitate you but also blur your sight and intoxicate your mind which sub-consciously affects the decisions you make.
Mike Murdurk say ‘Champions make decisions that create the present day desire’, It is quite unfortunate that most people prefer to live a much more simple lifestyle. They merely go the way life take them by doing their normal regular activities only; they go to school or work, sleep, eat, pray, chat with friends – not necessarily in that order, on weekends, they go to church, and then, prepare for the week ahead. They don’t spend quality time with themselves. It is one thing to spend more time with God; it is another to spend time with yourself. Spending time with yourself helps you to think deeply and search out the hidden treasures that God has deposited in you, that is the sole reason it is students assimilate better when reading in quiet place where they can be by themselves.
So, like John Mason, I implore you to dare to think unthinkable thoughts. Develop an infinite capacity to ignore what others think can’t be done. Life is too short to think small.

How Worse Can It Get???

Life is full of ups and downs; times when there seem to be no one around. It has never been a bed of full of roses. At certain points in one’s life, set backs are bound to be experienced. Like my friend, Oyetope Giwa would say, “Shit happens. It all depends on how you handle it.” The bitter truth is that nobody is actually completely self reliant, at some point in time we all go back to our closets to weep our hearts out and then come out laughing all the way with friends even though nothing is amusing. As fate would have it, some people seem to do it more frequently than others do, some are so good with it that they knew could win international awards for the best actor as they try hiding the gigantic hollow in their hearts they desperately want to fill.
Whether we can handle what comes our way better or not, everything that has a beginning surely has an end. The beginning of man is birth and death is the end. Problems are meant to come into our lives to make us better people. If a man has never experienced problem or gets everything in wants out of life on a platter of gold without any form of challenge, he is as good as living dead because only God can save him when he eventually falls into one. A popular American musician once said, “If I had to do it all again, I won’t take away the pain cos they make me who I am”. Pain is the essence of life, there is never a true gain without pain. What we need to do whenever we experience a challenge Is to accept It, embrace It, and understand It, with time we will come to realize that no matter how much we seem to be sticking in the mess, the solution is just by the door.
If the foundation is faulty what can the righteous do? It doesn’t matter who you are or where you have been, with the help of the Almighty God who will not leave you or forsake you, you can start all over again for the better because some problems will actually need you to relay your foundation because your initial foundation is not good enough. Embrace your problems today and you will find that you are better for it.
